These updates in safety innovations include Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+. This new suite takes its six-member fleet of features and upgrades two key components for better processing power and wider functionality in your Toyota. These enhancements to the renowned safety system come standard in the 2021 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid, the 2021 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid. Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ is projected to be more involved with the complete Toyota lineup in coming years.
2.5+ Enhancements
What exactly makes 2.5+ better than its forerunners? It builds upon two existing features, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and adds an entirely new level of proactive safety.
Bicyclist Detection is an addition to the Pre-Collision System (PCS). It senses an oncoming cyclist or pedestrian during the daytime or even in low-light conditions. It will send audio and visual alerts and will even automatically brake if needed to stop a collision.
Belonging to the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) feature, Curve Speed Management is another new feature. It utilizes the camera and yaw sensors (sensors that measure the vehicle's angular velocity) and reduces speed beforehand in the high-tech cruise control system to create a more natural feel for the driver when taking curves.
